JBL is a legendary American audio brand founded in 1946 by James Bullough Lansing. The brand has a rich history in professional sound reinforcement and consumer audio, becoming a staple in both cinemas and homes worldwide.
In 1969, JBL was acquired by Jervis Corporation (later known as Harman International Industries). The parent company, Harman, became a powerhouse in the automotive and lifestyle audio sectors. In 2017, Harman International was acquired by Samsung Electronics, making JBL an ultimate subsidiary of the South Korean tech giant.
Today, while JBL's engineering heritage is American, its mass-market consumer electronics like the Tune 310C are primarily manufactured in China to leverage global supply chains. The brand continues to operate under the Harman division within Samsung's global structure.
