Land Rover is an iconic British automotive brand specializing in four-wheel-drive, off-road capable luxury SUVs. The brand's lineage dates back to the original series Land Rover launched by the Rover Company in 1948, making it one of the oldest four-wheel-drive brands in the world. Its design was inspired by the World War II Jeep and was initially developed for agricultural and utility use. Over the decades, Land Rover evolved from a single model into a prestigious brand known for blending rugged terrain capability with high-end luxury.

Throughout its history, Land Rover has undergone several changes in ownership. It was part of British Leyland, the Rover Group, British Aerospace, and BMW. In 2000, it was acquired by Ford Motor Company, which combined it with Jaguar. In 2008, Ford sold Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to the Indian multinational conglomerate Tata Motors. Today, Land Rover is a brand under the Jaguar Land Rover company umbrella.

While manufacturing is still heavily concentrated in the United Kingdom—specifically at the Solihull and Halewood plants—the global demand for the brand has led to the establishment of manufacturing and assembly facilities in other countries. These include a major facility in Nitra, Slovakia, a joint venture factory in Changshu, China, and assembly lines in Brazil and India. Despite its global ownership and production, Land Rover remains synonymous with British engineering and design heritage.
