The brand was founded in 1902 by Basil Weixler and remains one of Germany's most successful private dairies. Bonifaz is specifically known for its creamy texture and various flavor infusions, such as garlic or herbs. The manufacturing is concentrated in the Bavarian region, following traditional cheesemaking practices combined with modern technology. Unlike many global brands, Bergader has remained independent and is still owned by the founding family, currently led by the fourth generation.
