Hardee's is a prominent American fast-food restaurant chain known primarily for its signature premium burgers, biscuits, and hand-breaded chicken tenders. The brand was founded by Wilber Hardee in 1960 in Greenville, North Carolina. It quickly became a staple of American dining culture, particularly in the Midwestern and Southeastern United States.
In 1997, Hardee's was acquired by CKE Restaurants, which also owns the Carl's Jr. brand. Since then, the two brands have largely shared a common menu and branding strategy, although they remain geographically distinct with Hardee's operating mostly in the East and Midwest. The manufacturing and sourcing of ingredients occur locally within the various international regions they serve, ensuring freshness and compliance with regional supply chain standards.
In recent years, the ownership has stabilized under Roark Capital Group, a private equity firm that manages a vast portfolio of restaurant and franchise brands. This ownership ensures that Hardee's maintains its positioning as a major player in the global fast-food industry while continuing its expansion through franchised and company-owned locations worldwide.
