Blue Band is a historically significant brand in the margarine and spreads category, originally launched in the Netherlands in 1923 by Van den Bergh. It was developed to provide a nutritious and affordable alternative to butter, notably becoming the first margarine to be enriched with vitamins.

For nearly a century, the brand was a cornerstone of the Unilever portfolio. However, in 2018, as part of a strategic shift to focus on high-growth categories, Unilever sold its global spreads business to KKR. This resulted in the formation of Upfield, which now serves as the ultimate owner of the brand. Manufacturing is carried out in various facilities globally, though the Dutch market is primarily served by production sites in Europe, maintaining the brand's heritage for quality and nutritional value.
