Czechvar is the North American and international trade name for the famous Budweiser Budvar beer, produced by the state-owned brewery Budějovický Budvar. The brand is deeply rooted in the brewing tradition of České Budějovice (Budweis), Czech Republic, dating back centuries. Due to a long-standing trademark dispute with the American company Anheuser-Busch over the name 'Budweiser', the brewery exports its premium lager as 'Czechvar' in several regions, including the Americas.
The beer is brewed exclusively in the Czech Republic using local Saaz hops, Moravian barley, and water from deep artesian wells to ensure its protected geographical status and authentic flavor. Unlike many global beer brands that have been acquired by multinational conglomerates, Czechvar remains unique as it is a state-owned enterprise, managed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, making the Czech people its ultimate owners.
