This image shows a official Brazilian vehicle license plate within the Mercosul (Mercosur) standard. Introduced in Brazil starting in 2018, this unified standard facilitates vehicle identification across member countries of the Southern Common Market. Included on the plate are high-security features such as a QR code for authenticity tracking, a blue banner with the Mercosur logo and the name of the country ('BRASIL'), and the Brazilian flag.
Unlike consumer goods, these plates are manufactured by various certified local stamping companies (estampadores de placas) accredited by the Brazilian state transit departments (DETRAN). While the physical raw material—aluminum plates with retro-reflective sheeting—may be produced by specialized multinational security companies like 3M or UTSCH, the final product is a government-regulated identification tool rather than a commercial brand-owned product.
