Almondy Daim cake is a popular gluten-free frozen dessert originating from Sweden. This signature cake combines the Swedish almond base of Almondy with the famous crunchy butter almond caramel pieces of the Daim chocolate bar. The Almondy bakery is located in Torslanda, Gothenburg, where they produce millions of cakes annually for distribution across the globe.
While the Daim brand itself was originally created by the Swedish confectionery company Marabou in 1953 and is now owned by the American conglomerate Mondelez International, the cake is manufactured by Almondy AB. Almondy was originally founded as 'Mandelbagarn' in 1982. In recent years, the ownership of Almondy moved to the Danish conglomerate Orkla ASA, which acquired the company to strengthen its position in the Nordic frozen desert market. This partnership between Almondy (owned by Orkla) and Daim (owner by Mondelez) is a classic example of brand licensing in the food industry.
