Ettan is one of the oldest and most iconic brands of Swedish snus, originally created by Jacob Fredrik Ljunglöf in 1822. It is known for its traditional tobacco flavor profile, often described as having notes of dark tobacco, smoke, and malt. Traditionally manufactured in Sweden, the brand adheres to the GothiaTek quality standard, which ensures high standards during the production of Swedish snus.

Today, Ettan is owned and manufactured by Swedish Match. In late 2022, Swedish Match was acquired by Philip Morris International (PMI). While the brand remains deeply rooted in Swedish culture and continues to be produced in Swedish factories, its ultimate parent company is now the American-headquartered Philip Morris International.
