Paralen is one of the most iconic pharmaceutical brands in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, specializing in pain relief and fever reduction treatments. Originally developed by the Czechoslovak state-owned company Spofa (specifically the Zentiva branch in Prague), the brand has become a staple in Central European households for managing symptoms of influenza and common colds.

Today, Paralen is part of the Zentiva portfolio. Zentiva, which has deep historical roots in Prague dating back to the 15th-century Black Eagle Pharmacy, was a subsidiary of the French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi for many years. However, in 2018, Zentiva was acquired by Advent International, a global private equity firm. Most Paralen products are still manufactured in the Zentiva facility located in Prague-Dolní Měcholupy, maintaining its heritage as a local product while being owned by international capital.
