Svijanský Máz is the flagship product of the Svijany Brewery, one of the oldest and most prominent independent breweries in the Czech Republic. Founded in 1564, the brewery is located in the village of Svijany and is celebrated for its commitment to traditional brewing methods. Unlike many modern industrial beers, Svijany products remain unpasteurized, which preserves the authentic taste and characteristics of a true Bohemian lager.
The brand has a rich history of resilience, having survived nationalization during the socialist era and later the threat of closure in the 1990s. Today, it stands as a symbol of independent Czech brewing. The production is centralized at the original site in Svijany, ensuring that every bottle maintains the specific regional flavor profile defined by local water and high-quality Czech hops and malt. Ownership remains largely domestic, through the LIF group, which focuses on maintaining the cultural heritage of Czech beer.
