Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% is a premium non-alcoholic lager that maintains the characteristic crisp and refreshing taste of the original Peroni Nastro Azzurro. The brand traces its roots back to 1846, when Francesco Peroni established his first brewery in Vigevano, Italy. The 'Nastro Azzurro' sub-brand was later launched in 1963, named after the 'Blue Ribbon' prize won by the Italian ocean liner SS Rex in 1933.
Historically an Italian family-owned business (Birra Peroni), the company was acquired by SABMiller in 2003. As part of the regulatory requirements following the merger of Anheuser-Busch InBev and SABMiller, Peroni was sold to the Japanese conglomerate Asahi Group Holdings in 2016. Today, while it remains an iconic symbol of Italian style and craftsmanship, it is part of a global portfolio owned by Asahi, with production occurring primarily in Rome, Bari, and Padova, but also expanded to other international facilities to meet global demand.
