Blend-a-med is a historical oral care brand with deep roots in Germany. It was originally developed by the blend-a-med Forschung (Research) in Mainz after World War II and officially founded in 1951. For decades, it was one of Germany's most prominent dental hygiene brands, known for its focus on preventative care and scientific formulation.
Today, blend-a-med is manufactured in multiple locations worldwide to serve different regional markets. Significant production facilities exist in Germany (notably at the Gross-Gerau site) and other parts of Europe. In many international markets outside of Germany and Eastern Europe, the brand is marketed under the 'Crest' or 'Oral-B' name, though it maintains its distinct identity in Central and Eastern European regions.
The brand was acquired by the American multinational corporation Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 1987. Since then, it has been integrated into P&G's global oral care portfolio. P&G, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, manages the brand's distribution and global research. In local markets, it is typically distributed by regional subsidiaries of Procter & Gamble.
