Purol Lippenstick

Purol is a heritage skincare brand with a rich history dating back to the early 20th century in the Netherlands. Originally developed by the Dutch pharmacist Andries J. Kuyper, the brand became famous for its soothing salves and multi-purpose skin creams. Over the decades, Purol expanded its line to include specialized personal care items like the Lippenstick (lip balm) shown in the image, which is designed to protect and repair dry, chapped lips.

While the brand has deep Dutch roots, the manufacturing of its modern lip balm products often takes place in Germany or other EU facilities to maintain high skincare standards. In terms of ownership, the brand was acquired by Unilever and later became part of the Omega Pharma portfolio. Today, Purol is owned by Perrigo Company plc, a global self-care giant headquartered in Ireland. This ownership reflects a shift from a local Dutch pharmaceutical staple to a globally managed brand that continues to utilize its legacy of skin-soothing formulas.
