KEMA is a world-renowned brand in the energy and electrical sector, famously known for the KEMA-KEUR quality mark. Originally established in 1927 in Arnhem, Netherlands, by Dutch electricity production and distribution companies, it was created to ensure the safety of electrical components. The brand served as the national laboratory for the Dutch electricity industry for decades.
In 2012, the majority of KEMA's business was acquired by DNV (then DNV GL), a global quality assurance and risk management company based in Norway. Since then, the certification services and laboratory operations have been integrated into the DNV group. The brand represents a long history of European engineering excellence, particularly in high-voltage testing and safety certification for electrical equipment and components. Today, while it operates globally, its technical heart and primary testing facilities remain located in Arnhem, Netherlands.
