RC Cola, short for Royal Crown Cola, began its journey in 1905 in Columbus, Georgia, when pharmacist Claude A. Hatcher started developing beverages in the basement of his family's grocery business. The brand has a rich history of innovation, being the first to introduce the 16-ounce bottle, the first to offer a caffeine-free cola, and the first to market a diet cola (Diet Rite).
Today, the ownership structure of RC Cola is divided globally. In the United States and Canada, the brand is owned and operated by Keurig Dr Pepper. Internationally, however, the brand's global rights are held by RC Global Beverages Inc., which oversees distribution in over 60 countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Manufacturing is decentralized, with the product being produced at various licensed bottling facilities across the globe to serve local markets.
As of the mid-2020s, the brand remains a major international player, particularly strong in markets like the Philippines under the management of Macay Holdings. Despite shifting corporate landscapes in the beverage industry, RC Cola continues to maintain its identity as a classic American cola with an extensive global footprint.
