Yates is one of the most iconic gardening brands in Australia and New Zealand, known for its extensive range of seeds and garden care products. The Yates Zero Weedkiller is a glyphosate-based concentrate designed for non-selective weed control.
Originally established in 1883 by Arthur Yates in Auckland, New Zealand, and expanded to Sydney in 1887, the brand became a staple of Australian backyards. While it operated as a public company for many decades, it was eventually acquired by Orica in 1998. Today, it is a key division under the DuluxGroup umbrella.
In 2019, DuluxGroup was acquired by Nippon Paint, a Japanese multinational chemical and paint conglomerate. While the brand is under Japanese ownership, many of its liquid garden products, including the Zero Weedkiller range, continue to be manufactured at local facilities in Australia to serve the Australasian market.
