Maratá is a well-established Brazilian brand with roots in the state of Sergipe. Originally founded as a small coffee business by José Augusto Vieira in the 1960s, the brand grew into the Maratá Group (Grupo Maratá), diversifying its portfolio to include a wide range of food products, beverages, and condiments like the Worcestershire sauce (Molho Inglês) shown in the image.
In late 2023, a significant acquisition occurred where the J&F Group (the holding company that owns JBS) acquired the coffee and powdered beverage divisions of Maratá. However, the broader food division, which includes condiments and sauces, often operates under the umbrella of the founding family's business group based in Lagarto, Sergipe. The product is manufactured domestically in Brazil, specifically within their regional production facilities, catering primarily to the Brazilian consumer market with a focus on high-quality pantry staples.
