The brand originated from 'La Caixa', a savings bank founded in Barcelona in 1904. Over the decades, it evolved through mergers and corporate restructuring, eventually leading to the creation of CaixaBank in 2011. Today, CaixaBank is a publicly traded company and a powerhouse in the Iberian financial sector, notably expanding further through its 2021 merger with Bankia to become the largest domestic bank in Spain by market share.
