Capture One is a professional-grade photo editing and asset management software developed by Capture One A/S. Originally created as a dedicated RAW converter for Phase One high-end digital backs, it has since evolved into a market-leading independent software solution used by photographers globally for its superior color rendering and industry-standard tethering capabilities.

Historically, the software was a division within the Danish medium-format camera manufacturer Phase One. However, in recent years, Capture One was spun off into its own corporate entity to focus exclusively on software development and cross-platform compatibility. The brand remains headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, where it maintains its core engineering and design teams.

Ownership transitioned significantly when the private equity firm Axcel acquired a majority stake in Phase One (and subsequently the standalone Capture One business). This move provided the capital necessary for the software to expand its reach beyond professional studios into the broader enthusiast market, while maintaining its status as a Danish-owned and operated technology firm.
