Squishmallows are a wildly popular line of plush toys designed to be ultra-soft and 'marshmallow-like'. This specific item features Tuxedo Sam, a classic Sanrio character, reimagined in the signature rounded Squishmallow style with an ice cream sundae theme. Since their launch in 2017, Squishmallows have become a global cultural phenomenon, known for their collectible nature and high-quality sensory appeal.
The brand was originally created by Kelly Toys Holdings, LLC, based in the United States. Following the brand's explosive success, it was acquired by Jazwares, which is a subsidiary of the insurance and investment giant Alleghany Corporation. In a major corporate shift in late 2022, Berkshire Hathaway, led by Warren Buffett, acquired Alleghany Corporation, making Berkshire Hathaway the ultimate parent company of the Squishmallows brand entering into the mid-2020s. Manufacturing for these plushies primarily occurs in China and Vietnam to meet global demand.
