Suave is an iconic American personal care brand that has been a household staple since its founding in the 1930s. Originally starting as a hair tonic, the brand expanded into a wide variety of affordable grooming products including shampoos, conditioners, deodorants, and body washes. Its manufacturing is primarily concentrated in the United States to serve its large North American consumer base, though global supply chains may involves auxiliary production sites.
For many decades, Suave was a cornerstone of Unilever's North American portfolio after being acquired from Helene Curtis Industries in 1996. However, in a significant strategic shift, Unilever sold the Suave brand in North America to Yellow Wood Partners in 2023. Today, the brand is managed under the umbrella of Saban Brands (via Yellow Wood's portfolio) in the United States and Canada, while Unilever retains ownership of the brand in certain international markets outside of North America.
