Lloyd is a prestigious brand with a long heritage in the footwear industry, founded in 1888 by Hermann Friedrich Meyer in Bremen, Germany. Originally known as H. F. Meyer Schuhfabrik, the company officially adopted the brand name 'Lloyd' in the 1920s to reflect its high-quality European positioning. The brand is famous for its iconic 'red stripe' on the heel, which has served as its quality mark since 1968. In late 2024, the company was renamed from Lloyd Shoes GmbH to Lloyd Lifestyle GmbH to signify its expansion into a broader range of premium products including leather jackets, bags, and accessories.

While the brand maintains its creative heartbeat and headquarters in Sulingen, Germany, its manufacturing is international. Production takes place in Lloyd’s own factories in Germany and Romania, as well as through partnerships in other countries. In 2024, the brand underwent a significant ownership change when the Swiss-based Arklyz Group AG acquired it from its long-time owner, Ara AG. Under the leadership of the Arklyz Group, Lloyd is being repositioned as a global lifestyle brand focusing on an omni-channel retail strategy and international expansion.
