The Leitz 5180 is a high-capacity heavy-duty hole punch designed for professional office use. The Leitz brand was founded in Germany in 1871 by Louis Leitz, who is credited with inventing the ring binder. For over a century, the company operated as a family-owned German business synonymous with engineering quality and durability in office products.
In 1998, the Esselte Group acquired Leitz. Subsequently, in 2016, ACCO Brands purchased the Esselte Group from private equity, bringing Leitz into one of the world's largest portfolios of academic and business supplies. While Leitz products were traditionally made in Germany, current manufacturing occurs across multiple locations worldwide to serve global markets, though the brand maintains its German design heritage.
