Brandt is a historic German food company best known for its iconic 'zwieback' (rusk), which is a light, double-baked crisp bread. The brand was founded in 1912 by Carl Brandt and his brother Fritz in Hagen, Germany. One of its most recognizable features is the smiling 'Brandt Child' logo, which has appeared on its packaging since the early 20th century, representing quality and a traditional snack for all ages.
The product shown is 'Skorpor', the Swedish term for rusk, illustrating the brand's international distribution. Historically, Brandt revolutionized rusk production with mechanized cutting machines and expanded into chocolate and other baked goods. In 2003, the company moved its main rusk production facility from its original home in Hagen to Ohrdruf, Thuringia, which is now considered one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Europe. To this day, Brandt remains a family-owned enterprise, managed by the third generation of the Brandt family, maintaining its independence and commitment to its traditional recipes.
