Rolex Milgauss watch

Rolex is a legendary name in the world of luxury horology. The brand was founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis in London, England, initially as Wilsdorf and Davis. However, the company registered 'Rolex' as the brand name for its watches in 1908 and moved its operations base to Geneva, Switzerland, in 1919 due to unfavorable post-war taxes in the UK.

The Milgauss model, specifically shown here with its distinctive green sapphire crystal and lightning bolt second hand, was originally introduced in 1956. It was designed as an anti-magnetic watch for people working in power plants, medical facilities, and research labs (like CERN) where electromagnetic fields can disrupt a watch's timing.

Every Rolex watch is designed, developed, and produced in-house in Switzerland. The brand maintains four sites across the country: the headquarters and assembly in Geneva, movement manufacturing in Bienne, case and bracelet production in Plan-les-Ouates, and dial and gem-setting in Chêne-Bourg. Rolex is owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation, a private family trust which ensures the brand remains independent and committed to its long-term vision of quality and precision.
