Joplin Cloud

Joplin Cloud is the official cloud storage and synchronization service for Joplin, a popular open-source, end-to-end encrypted note-taking application. The brand originated in France when Laurent Cozic launched Joplin in 2017 as a secure alternative to proprietary note-taking software. Joplin Cloud was later introduced to provide users with a seamless, high-performance syncing solution and collaborative features that go beyond the basic capabilities of third-party cloud providers.

As a software-as-a-service (SaaS) product, Joplin Cloud does not have a single physical manufacturing location but is hosted on distributed cloud infrastructure (typically via providers like Hetzner or AWS) primarily within Europe to comply with strict privacy regulations. The brand and its cloud services are managed by Joplin Data Services, which oversees the development and operational integrity of both the open-source client and the subscription-based cloud platform. Ownership remains independent, reflecting the brand's commitment to community-driven development and user privacy.
