Lurpak is a world-renowned premium butter brand with a history dating back to 1901. Originally known as the 'Lurmark' quality mark, it was established by Danish dairy farmers to ensure superior quality and consistency for Danish butter exported to international markets. The brand is famous for its silver packaging and the iconic 'Lur' horn symbol, which refers to ancient Bronze Age musical instruments found in Scandinavia.

Today, Lurpak is owned by Arla Foods, a major European dairy cooperative owned by thousands of dairy farmers across Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. While Arla is a multinational cooperative, Lurpak remains deeply rooted in its Danish heritage. Most Lurpak products, including its popular spreadable and lighter blends, continue to be produced at the Holstebro Dairy in Denmark, maintaining high standards of production and natural ingredients.
