Sallos Liquorice Candy

Sallos is a well-known German brand specializing in hard liquorice candies. The brand was originally created by the Villosa company (Villosa Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH), founded by the Villosa brothers in 1898. Originally famous for their cough drops, the company eventually gained cult status for its salty liquorice products.

Today, the brand is owned by Katjes Fassin GmbH + Co. KG, a major German confectionery manufacturer. Most Sallos products are manufactured at their production facilities in Emmerich am Rhein, Germany. Katjes obtained the rights to the brand as part of their strategy to dominate the European liquorice market, and they continue to manage the distribution through the Villosa subsidiary.
