Michałki are iconic Polish chocolates, and the Wawel brand is one of the most historical confectionery producers in the country, with roots dating back to 1898. Originally founded by Adam Piasecki in Kraków, the company evolved through the decades into a national powerhouse and was later privatized.
Today, Wawel SA is a publicly traded company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, but its majority capital is held by Hosta International AG. While the brand remains deeply tied to its Polish heritage and Kraków-based traditions, its ultimate corporate control resides with Swiss investors. The production of these coconut-flavored chocolates continues to be centered in Poland, specifically at the modern production facility in Dobczyce.
