GEPA Café Benita is a premium organic and fair-trade decaffeinated instant coffee. The brand GEPA (The Fair Trade Company) was founded in May 1975 in Germany by various church-related youth and development organizations with the goal of promoting social justice through fair trade practices. The coffee beans used for Café Benita are sourced from smallholder cooperatives in Latin America, focusing on sustainable and organic farming. While the raw coffee beans are imported, the final processing, including decaffeination and freeze-drying into instant coffee, is primarily performed in Germany. GEPA remains an independent pioneer in the fair trade movement, owned by a consortium of non-profit organizations, ensuring that profits are reinvested into development projects and fair pay for producers.
