Elan is a globally recognized manufacturer of sporting goods, best known for its high-performance skis. The brand originated in 1945 in Begunje na Gorenjskem, Slovenia (then part of Yugoslavia), founded by the visionary Rudi Finžgar. Elan gained international fame through its innovative designs and association with legendary skiers like Ingemar Stenmark. The brand is particularly noted for pioneering the 'carving ski' shape which revolutionized the industry in the 1990s.

Today, Elan remains headquartered in Slovenia, where it continues to operate one of the world's largest ski manufacturing facilities. This central location allows the brand to maintain strict quality control and artisanal oversight of its production processes. The manufacturing site in Begunje is responsible for producing the vast majority of Elan's skis, including the Amphibio series.

In terms of ownership, the Elan Group was acquired in 2018 by KJK Management, a Finnish private equity firm, through its KJK Fund III. The ultimate ownership lies with this investment group, which has supported Elan’s continued expansion into international markets while preserving its heritage as a Slovenian powerhouse in the winter sports industry.
