Cerave is a skincare brand developed in the United States in 2005. The brand was founded in collaboration with dermatologists to provide products enriched with a blend of three essential ceramides. It was originally launched by Coria Laboratories, a subsidiary of Valeant Pharmaceuticals. In 2017, L'Oréal acquired Cerave along with two other brands to strengthen its active cosmetics division.
The manufacturing process occurs in various locations globally including North America and Europe to facilitate global distribution. As of 2026, the brand remains a core part of L'Oréal's Dermacosmetics Division, headquartered in France.
