Le Petit Marseillais is an iconic French personal care brand known for its association with Provencal fragrances and natural ingredients. It was originally created by Bernard Lengellé in the 1980s, inspired by the traditional soap-making heritage of Marseille. The brand quickly became a staple in French households for its simplicity and Mediterranean identity.
In 2006, the brand was acquired by Johnson & Johnson. However, in 2023, Johnson & Johnson spun off its consumer health division into a separate, independent company called Kenvue. As of 2024 and beyond, Kenvue is the ultimate owner of the brand. While the brand maintains a strong French identity and conducts significant production in France and Europe (notably in facilities in Dijon or Poland depending on the specific product line), its distribution and corporate strategy are managed on a global scale by its American-based parent company.
