Barient Winch

Barient (formally Barient Marine) was a legendary name in the yachting industry, pioneered in the United States by designers like Jimmy Michael in the mid-20th century. Known for producing high-quality, durable stainless steel winches, the brand became a staple on competitive racing boats and high-end cruisers for decades.

Over the years, the brand underwent several ownership changes. By the late 20th century, production was moved and integrated with other marine equipment manufacturers. Today, the Barient brand name is no longer in active mass production, and the legacy intellectual property and service support are largely associated with the group that owns Barlow and Lewmar. While Lewmar remains the dominant active brand, Barient exists primarily as a legacy entity within the marine manufacturing portfolio overseen by its current corporate parent.
