Apollo is a well-established household name in Southeast Asia, particularly famous for its affordable and nostalgic range of chocolate-coated wafer sticks, sponge cakes, and chocolate biscuits. Founded in the late 1960s, the brand grew from a small local business into a dominant force in the Malaysian snack market, with its signature yellow packaging becoming a visual staple in convenience stores and schools across the region.
The brand is manufactured exclusively by Apollo Food Industries in Asia, primarily centered at its production facilities in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The company operates high-volume production lines to cater to both the domestic Malaysian market and a significant export market covering Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and China.
In recent years, the ownership of Apollo has undergone a significant transition. In late 2023 and into 2024, the Baskin-Robbins franchisee in Malaysia, through the entity Scoop Capital, acquired a controlling interest in Apollo Food Holdings. This move brought the quintessential Malaysian snack brand under the wing of a larger regional retail and food corporate structure, ensuring its continued legacy and distribution in the modern market.
