The brand's history dates back to 1878 when Anders Påhlsson and his wife Matilda opened a small bakery in Malmö, Sweden. These crispy rolls, known in Sweden as 'skorpor', are made from slow-roasted traditional recipes and have become a breakfast and snacking staple internationally.

Today, the brand remains under the ownership of Pågen AB, Sweden's leading bakery. The production is centralized in Sweden, primarily in Malmö and Gothenburg, ensuring that the authentic Swedish character is preserved for exports to over 40 countries. As of 2026, it continues to be a privately held brand by the founding family's successors.
