The brand was founded in 1994 by the Swiss family Laederach, owners of the famous Confiseur Läderach AG, who brought Swiss chocolate-making expertise to Romania. Since its inception, the brand has focused on handcrafted techniques and high-quality ingredients. Although it was born from Swiss heritage, the manufacturing and operational core have remained in Romania.

Today, Heidi is owned by the Meinl family through the KEX Confectionery group (part of the Julius Meinl holding). The brand continues to position itself as a premium chocolatier with significant distribution across Central and Eastern Europe and exports to over 50 countries worldwide.
