Cree XM-L2 LED

The Cree XLamp XM-L2 is a high-performance LED component designed for lighting applications requiring high efficacy and lumen output. It is the successor to the original XM-L series, offering improved efficiency and thermal management. Originally developed by Cree, Inc. in the United States, these components are widely used in flashlights, industrial lighting, and automotive applications.

Over the years, the manufacturing and brand ownership have transitioned. While Cree was a pioneer in Silicon Carbide (SiC) and LED technology in North Carolina, the LED products division (Cree LED) was sold to SGH (Smart Global Holdings). Most high-volume manufacturing for these specific chips now takes place in specialized facilities in China, though some advanced R&D and specialized production remain in the United States.
