Cotonetes is perhaps one of the most iconic brands in the personal care category in Brazil and Latin America, so much so that the name became a generic trademark for cotton swabs in the region. Originally developed by Johnson & Johnson, the product features flexible plastic sticks with pure cotton tips. While the brand originated within the American multinational Johnson & Johnson, there have been significant corporate shifts.
Starting in 2023, Johnson & Johnson spun off its consumer health division into a new independent company called Kenvue. Consequently, Cotonetes is now part of the Kenvue portfolio. Manufacturing for the Latin American market, particularly the units sold in Brazil as seen in the packaging, is primarily handled at the large industrial complex in São José dos Campos, Brazil, though the brand is produced globally to meet regional demand.
