Lipton is a globally recognized brand originally established in Scotland in the late 19th century by Sir Thomas Lipton. Over the decades, it became a cornerstone of the global tea market. The brand's presence in the ready-to-drink (RTD) iced tea category is managed through a significant long-term partnership.
Today, the ownership structure of Lipton is divided based on the product format. While the tea leaf business was sold by Unilever to CVC Capital Partners (now operating as LIPTON Teas and Infusions), the ready-to-drink iced tea bottles, such as the one pictured, remain part of the Pepsi Lipton International joint venture between Unilever and PepsiCo.
Manufacturing for these beverages is hyper-localized to minimize carbon footprints and logistics costs. Consequently, the product is bottled in numerous countries around the world, typically by local PepsiCo bottling partners, depending on the specific market where it is sold.
