Telefunken Electronics

Telefunken is a historic German brand with roots dating back to 1903, founded as a venture between Siemens & Halske and AEG. Throughout the 20th century, it was a pioneer in radio, television, and wireless technology. After the dissolution of the original AEG-Telefunken group in the 1980s and 1990s, the brand transitioned into a licensing model.

Today, Telefunken is not a single manufacturing entity but a global brand managed by Telefunken Licenses GmbH. Manufacturing is outsourced to various specialized partners worldwide. For instance, many Telefunken televisions sold in Europe are manufactured by the Turkish electronics giant Vestel. This business model allows the historic name to appear on a wide range of appliances and gadgets produced in multiple global locations while maintaining its heritage as a symbol of German engineering.
