Vel Pitar is the largest manufacturer of bakery products in Romania. The brand was established in 2001 following the merger of several local bakeries, but its roots trace back to historic industrial milling and baking operations in the region. Vel Pitar products are primarily manufactured across various facilities within Romania to ensure freshness for the local market.

Historically part of the Broadhurst Investments group, the company underwent a major ownership change in early 2023. It was acquired by the Mexican global bakery giant, Grupo Bimbo. This acquisition marked Grupo Bimbo's entry into the Romanian market, integrating Vel Pitar into the world's largest baking company. Today, Vel Pitar operates as a key subsidiary of Grupo Bimbo in Southeastern Europe.
