Green & Black's is a pioneering brand in the ethical chocolate market, founded in London in 1991 by Craig Sams and Jo Fairley. The name reflects the founders' commitment to environmental ethics (Green) and the high cocoa content (Black). It achieved significant fame for launching the UK's first Fairtrade-certified product. In 2005, the brand was acquired by Cadbury Schweppes, which later became part of Kraft Foods following a high-profile acquisition.
Today, Green & Black's is part of the global snacking giant Mondelēz International. While its origins are deeply rooted in British organic entrepreneurship, the brand's production is now distributed across several international facilities to meet global demand, though much of its sourcing and development remains focused on sustainable cocoa practices. The brand continues to be a major player in the premium organic chocolate segment worldwide.
