The brand was founded in 2015 by Matthieu Maisons, a farmer located in Létourville, Eure-et-Loir. The chips are known for being 'farm-produced' (produit à la ferme), using potatoes grown directly on the family farm and cooked in small batches in a cauldron setting to ensure quality and crunch.

Ownership remains entirely independent and family-run under the company Ferme de Létourville. The production process emphasizes local circuits, using high-quality French ingredients like sunflower oil and sea salt from Île de Ré. This focus on local craftsmanship and regional identity has allowed Belsia to establish itself as a leader in the French artisanal snack market.
