Danone Aqua

Aqua is the most popular brand of bottled mineral water in Indonesia. Originally established in 1973 by Tirto Utomo, it pioneered the bottled water industry in Southeast Asia. The product is sourced from various protected springs across the Indonesian archipelago, ensuring a clean and mineral-rich profile for consumers.

In 1998, a strategic partnership was formed between the original Indonesian owner and the French multinational Danone, which eventually led to Danone becoming the majority shareholder. Today, Aqua is managed under the Danone-AQUA umbrella, benefiting from international quality standards and sustainable water management practices.

As of 2024 and beyond, the brand remains firmly under the ownership of Danone, a global leader in the food and beverage industry headquartered in Paris. The brand is a cornerstone of the Indonesian beverage market, maintaining a vast distribution network through local subsidiaries.
