Hollywood chewing gum is an iconic French brand, famous for its association with freshness and dental care. Launched in 1952 by Courtial, it became a market leader in France, often featuring imagery of independence and natural freshness. The 'Soin Dentaire' line specifically promotes dental hygiene, containing fluoride and being sugar-free to cater to health-conscious consumers.
While industrial production primarily occurs in Europe (notably in facilities in France and Poland), the brand has undergone several ownership transitions. Originally a flagship of French confectionery, it was acquired by Kraft Foods, which later became Mondelēz International. In 2023, the European gum business, including Hollywood, was sold to Perfetti Van Melle, ensuring the brand remains a staple in the confectionery market under new Italian-Dutch ownership.
