Weetabix is an iconic British breakfast cereal known for its shaped biscuits made from whole-grain wheat. The product was originally inspired by a similar Australian product and brought to the United Kingdom in the early 1930s. Since its inception, the primary manufacturing hub has been located in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, where millions of biscuits are produced daily from wheat sourced within a 50-mile radius of the factory.
The brand has undergone several changes in ownership over the decades. Originally founded by the British & African Cereal Co Ltd (later renamed Weetabix Limited), it remained a family-owned business for many years. In 2017, the brand was acquired by Post Holdings, an American consumer packaged goods holding company. Despite its American ownership, Weetabix remains deeply rooted in British culture and continues its production at its historic UK facilities.
