Herlitz is a historic German brand specializing in stationery, office supplies, and school equipment. Founded in 1904 by Carl Herlitz in Berlin, the company grew from a local stationery wholesaler into an international household name known for its colorful school bags, notebooks, and writing instruments. Throughout its history, Herlitz has been a pioneer in introducing design-led stationery concepts to the European market. Following a period of financial restructuring and ownership changes, the brand was integrated into broader global portfolios to maintain its reach across European and international markets. Today, while the brand retains its German identity and design ethos, manufacturing is conducted across various global locations to serve its extensive distribution network. In 2014, the brand became part of the Pelikan Group, uniting two of Germany's most iconic stationery names. However, the ownership structure evolved further as the Pelikan Group was acquired by the French group Hamelin. This acquisition positioned Herlitz under one of Europe's largest stationery conglomerates, ensuring the brand's legacy in the global paper and office supplies industry remains robust through 2026 and beyond.
