Neutrogena is a globally recognized skincare brand originally founded in the United States in 1930. The "Norwegian Formula" line, featured on this lip protector, was inspired by the traditional glycerine-rich ointments used by Norwegian fishermen to protect their skin from harsh arctic conditions.
While the marketing emphasizes Norwegian heritage, the brand was built by Emanual Stolaroff under the name Natone and later became Neutrogena. It was acquired by the American conglomerate Johnson & Johnson in 1994. In recent years, Johnson & Johnson spun off its consumer health division into a new independent company called Kenvue. As of 2024 and looking toward 2026, Kenvue is the ultimate owner of the brand. Manufacturing for the European market typically occurs in facilities located in France and Greece.
